2 more and a winner!

I've got 2 more layouts to share from the Nook challenges. Y'all are probably getting tired of me telling you about them. Sorry. It's finals week, so we're almost done. But I really have loved being a part of it if you couldn't tell.

First up is a challenge for the "in" crowd, which was to scraplift a DT member. I chose to scraplift my Aussie friend, Tanya Tahir. I love her work and this one was no exception. You can see her layout here.

And then this is my take on it.

and then next up is a layout i did for Art 101...the challenge was to play and be messy. So I chose to use 2 different colors of Glimmer Mist, some iridescent Stickles, and I pulled out my chalk pastels (gasp!). Those hadn't seen the light of day in quite some time.

And finally the winner of my MLS RAK goes to follower #22 which is Delaina!
Delaina said...

So bright and Beautiful!

(And just for the record, I used random.com to generate the winner's number, but for the LIFE of me I can't figure out how to post the "picture" of it on here. So you'll just have to trust me this time and I'll figure out random.com later.)

Delaina, if you'll email me at DeannaMisnerATgmailDOTcom I'll send you your goodies! :D

That's all for now!
Hope you're having a great week!

Scrappin' school and a new fave

The Scrapbook Nook is finishing up their month long "school" contest and I've had a blast playing along. Next week "finals" start, and I'm hoping to be among the students that gets to move on. But regardless of whether I do or not, I've really loved stretching my creativity, stepping outside my comfort zone in some cases, and coming away with layouts that I really enjoy! Playing a little catch up, here's what I've made over the past week or so.

Geography class (scrap a place)

Art 101 (A doodling challenge)

English Lit. (journaling challenge)

Biology
(must include paper piecing of a living thing)

There's just a few more classes I have to finish up, and then cross my fingers I make it to the finals. I can't wait to see what they have up their sleeve! I'm sure it'll push my boundaries yet again!

And finally I can't help but share my crazy crew! This is my favorite picture (this week), and I like it because it captures everyone's personality so well.

Hope you're having a great weekend!
I'll be back tomorrow with the winner of my MLS RAK. ;)
And be sure to stay tuned next week. Lots of surprises coming your way. ;)
I love being mysterious! ;)

Announcement and a clue

Just a quick announcement. It's a hint of sorts. Let's just say you're going to want to keep an eye on my blog in the coming days and weeks. ;) How's that for being mysterious?

My lil monsters

Hi everyone! Happy Hump Day! Just wanted to share another LO I did with the Scrapcetera October kit, "Hot Apple Cider". I love that this kit can be used both for Fall as well as non-Fall layouts! This is one of my little monsters the morning after Mac came home from the hospital.

Extra doodling added courtesy of a 4 yr. old. She actually did a decent job. ;) She's been asking to "scrapbook" all morning, and I guess the temptation got too great for her.

To see more of this kit, check out my post that's up today. You can find it here.

Giggles and Sunshine

I stumbled across this quote at the pediatrician's office last week. You never know where you're going to find inspiration, right? Well, I jotted the saying down, and when I got home I began sifting through pictures for just the right one. I think I found it. The girls playing in the front yard in their princess costumes. And yes, there were a lot of giggles, from both me and them!

It's kind of hard to tell because I can't get the lighting just right (thanks to the page warping), but this is white cardstock sprayed with yellow Shimmerz. Also, the papers are from Noel Mignon's Sunkissed kitand I added some Dear Lizzy ribbon.

And now I'm off! Got a busy day ahead of me!
Hope everyone's had a good jumpstart to their week!

Oh--and I'll post the winner of my My Little Shoebox RAK very soon! Thank you all for the kind comments! They made my day! :D

Soccer, soccer, soccer!

***If you're here for either the Scrapcetera or My Little Shoebox blog hops, please scroll down.***

This weekend we had our 1st of many soccer Saturdays. Both the girls played, Caroline in the 4-5 league, and Sarah Kate with the 3 yr. olds. We weren't sure how the girls would do since we've only played against each other in the front yard, and I was quite surprised at how well Caroline did. Sarah Kate decided to be almost too shy (and cranky) to play. But more on that later.

In her game, Caroline had 3 different breakaways, but none ended in a goal. One time she got tired and quit 3/4 of the way down the field, another time her shoe fell off 3/4 of the way, and the last time the ball got taken away. She also did fairly well playing defense. Well, as well as a 4 yr. can. The thing that cracked me up though was when she got tired, she'd stand at mid-field, point, and direct (boss) her team on which way they should kick it. That's SO like her! Hee! :D Here are some of her highlights:

And then it was Sarah Kate's turn to play. But poor girl is just like her daddy in more ways than just looks. When she's hungry, she's cranky. And that was the case at her soccer game. She'd sat patiently through Caroline's game, saw they got snacks at the end, and decided she wanted some too. Soo, she refused to let go of Josh's hand the whole practice, and then when they started the game, she didn't want to play. I had to go buy her a snack just to get something in her, and by the end she did play a little. But by play I mean that she walked onto the field and reluctantly kicked the ball. She wasn't a happy camper until after lunchtime. So of course her favorite part of soccer was getting her own team snack at the end. Notice the smile behind the bag. ;)

So that was our soccer Saturday. And after lunch, I came home and crashed! (Even missed the Ole Miss game, but that's probably a good thing.) It was a FUN first soccer outing for sure!

Hope you've had a good weekend too!

Scrapcetera Blog Hop!

Hi there everyone! Welcome to the very first Scrapcetera blog hop! I'm so excited to be a part of this team, and to share with you my creations from the beautiful October kit, Hot Apple Cider!

You should be joining me from the oh-so-talented Jodi's blog. If not, then you'll want to start the hop from the beginning, which starts at the Scrapcetera blog.

Can I please just tell you that this kit totally set in motion the excitement that Fall here! The day I got the kit, football games got underway, there was a cool crisp breeze in the air, and oh my did this kit blow me away! It practically created itself! Here's what the kit inspired me to do:

"One Fall Day"

"Favorite Season"

and a card...

I'll be honest and tell you that I've been hoarding my Jillibean papers from the kit, but I will break those out very VERY soon! I'm trying to decide which pictures I want to use, since they go so well with several I have. I'll have to plan carefully, which is why I haven't tapped in to them yet.

Well that's all for me. Now hop on over to the Scrapcetera Facebook page and let us know that you've commented on all the DT blogs AND become a fan. When you do, you'll be entered to win a FREE NOV. Kit.** (Let's just say it's still got a Fall theme and you'll be "Catching Fall" in no time at all! ;) ) There will also be more giveaways on the FB page, so be sure to check those out too!

Hope you've had fun hopping! :D

**Winner will be chosen at random, and announced Monday evening. This hop ends Sunday the 19th at 12pm EST.

Capturing the Moment

because they grow so (STINKIN') fast!
This I have learned. The hard way.
And I'm sure it only gets worse from here.

Sorry that I keep bringing it up, but I did this LO for another "class" over at My Scrapbook Nook. So far, I've completed all the assignments and I'm walking away with LOs I adore (if I do say so myself). This one was for the History class, which was to create a shabby chic LO including a list of classic shabby items or techniques. Here are some close ups of all the dimension, texture, and odds and ends I added just for fun.

Busy day! Gotta run, but wanted to share with ya first! ;)
Happy Wednesday everyone!

Pink Ambition

Oh yes! She has PINK ambitions!

The other day Sarah Kate and I were carrying on a conversation, and somewhere in there she usually tells me what she wants to be when she "gets big." 99% of the time she tells me that "when (she) gets big she's going to be a pink Musketeer, and chew bubble gum. Pink bubble gum." And then on that particular day she added, "And I want pink hair and fly a helicopter." Niiice. Where she came up with that, I have no idea. But she's got pink ambitions for sure! Ha!

Soccer and a smile

This weekend I officially became a soccer mom.
Both the girls are playing, Josh is coaching, and I'm the team mom!
When we do something, we're all in!

Caroline did great, and really enjoyed it until she got "too hot".

Sarah Kate showed off her skills too.
But really, she did more of this.
At one point I even caught her putting the orange
cones on her head like they were party hats!

And then this morning I caught McClain's elusive-to-the-camera smile.
He's been smiling since last week, usually after a feeding. If
I smile at him, then he smiles back, and sometimes coos.
And here I said he wouldn't be a Mama's Boy!
Those smiles just kill me! He's got me wrapped already!
What is it about little boys that does that to mamas?
That's what we've been up to. Lots of soccer,
and cuddling with a smiley baby!

What it's all about

Don't fall out of your chair, but I made a 2-pager. Shocker, I know. It was partly because I was forced to (thanks Lori), but I really love the end result. And surprisingly it was easy. And fast. I may have to do more. Or maybe not. ;)

"First Glimpse"

Each side up close:

Thanks to Virginia (and Britt) I'm now highly addicted to masking tape ruffled flowers. I've been putting them on everything. AND, now I finally know what to do with my Pink Paislee Artisan tapes. ;) Gotta love that.

Again, this was a part of the Nook's School of U challenge. This one was a math challenge in which Lori gave us a sketch and a formula we had to follow:
(PH x 8 )+(PP x 4)+(CS x 2)+(E x 15)+1T+1J+(TCH x 3)
Where:
PH = Photos
PP = Pattern Paper
CS = Cardstock
E = Embellishments
T = Title
J = Journaling
TCH = Technique

I used My Little Shoebox paper for the background, and all the embellishments and Jenni Bowlin Co'ordinations cardstock were from Noel Mignon's Lemonade Stand kit. I just love doing challenges. They take me out of my comfort zone, and I usually end up loving what I've made because it's different.

And I guess it goes without saying that these photos are of when the girls first met McClain. They were so excited because they'd had to wait 2 days because he'd been in the NICU. The expressions on their faces is just priceless. I did the main journaling in the half circle up top. But then next to each girl's photos, I wrote about their individual reaction, how Caroline was so curious and asked a lot of questions. Typical. And how SK was so tender and gentle, and snuggled right up to him. Love those moments, and I love that I've captured them on page. Exactly what scrapping is all about.

Love lives here

I mentioned last week that I'm participating in the Scrapbook Nook's School of U month long contest. And this is a little sign that I made for the Economics class. The assignment was to use scraps to create 3 tags or ATCs that are no bigger than 3.5" by 2.5" I decided to go with tags, since I'm not an ATC girl. Here's my finished product.

Products used: Kraft--MME, pp--Basic Grey, die-cuts--Girls Paperie, punch--Martha Stewart, button--Nikki Sivils, ink--Fabric Scraps ink dauber, mini alphas--My Little Shoebox, ribbon--Websters (I think.)

I also tried my hand at making my own patterned paper ruffle. It outlines the heart die-cut, and I'm pretty happy with it. I was just running my mouth, talking to my step-mom, and playing with the strip of paper in my hands, and voila! I looked down and I'd made a ruffle! Actually I've been making a lot of them lately as you'll see in my upcoming posts. They're quite addicting.

Hope you're having a great week so far! I can't believe it's already Thursday! Whew! This short week is flying by!

Oh, and btw, this little guy is 2 months old already! Talk about time flying by...

Be back with more soon! ;) :D
