Bakerella and a some Thanks

I tell ya, Bakerella makes THE MOST adorable cake pops! They're so STINKIN' CUTE!!!









Well, some little buddies and I are going to attempt these tomorrow. I don't expect for ours to be anywhere near as precious as these, but I've gotta just try! And really, I don't even care how they taste! They're just that cute!!! So stay tuned, I'll post ours tomorrow. But just know that WE are not professionals! lol!

On a completely different note, I made a card the the scraps of my Color Me Daisy April kit. Like making cake pops, I'm also addicted to making these lollipop flowers. (Can you see a theme? cake pops and lollipops? hehehe!) I just had to make some more!

Pushed out-of-the-box

I mention in an earlier post that I'm participating in a series of challenges over at Urban Anthology. Well, the bonus challenge for this week was to create a card, tag, or altered goodie using FABRIC and STAMPING. Now, anybody who's known me very long knows that I'm NOT a good card maker. I don't even really enjoy it. Something about the dimensions being something other than 12x12 really throws me off. But THEN to have to use fabric AND stamping?! I'll be honest, I was a little frightened. But it was a little fun to be pushed out of my box despite the panic at first. Alright enough rambling. Here's my card. I'm happy with the way it turned out.







I used several techniques. First off I made yo-yo flowers with pinked edges(I think that's what they're called) out of the fabric. Then layered them with felt and paper flowers. The stems are also fabric. Kind of a mistake actually. I was working on my card at the church crop last night. While I was talking to someone, I started twisting a strip of fabric between my fingers. When I looked down I realized that it'd work for a stem, so I just went with it! LOL!

For the greeting, I handcut the journaling spot and outlined it (of course!). I sanded the cardstock for a lighter distressed feel, then stamped the greeting. Oh yeah, and there's some Pink Paislee rub-ons across the bottom to fill in the gaps between the flowers.

Overall, it was a fun card to make, and I'm really glad I was pushed out of my comfort zone!

Waahoooo!

Well, I guess it's a good thing that I didn't post those lake LOs I was telling you about. When I got home from the crop at church tonight, I had an email from the editor of Creating Keepsakes asking for to publish one of them! Waaahooo! I'm so so so excited! This particular LO will be in the "Seasonal Selections" section of the August issue. I can't WAIT to see this one pubbed! :D :D :D

Oh, and here's the one that DIDN'T get pubbed. It was actually my favorite of the 2, but then I know why they didn't pick it up either so no biggie.

A nod to Gretchen

This is my latest LO with Color Me Daisy's April kit. The Lily Bee paper from the kit seemed to be perfect for a 5x7 of thumbnail pictures of all the cousins I'd been holding on to for a while. And since it was a compilation of Misner family pictures, I decided to use a sketch idea from Josh's cousin, my inherited cousin, who happens to also be a Memory Makers Master, Gretchen McElveen.

Things that make my heart smile

It's been the little things lately. Those unprompted words from the kids, those little pats on the back that let you know you may in fact be doing something right.Or it's been the gratification of working hard on something and seeing the "picture" in your mind come to fruition. Yeah, I've had afew little things lately that have warmed my heart and made it smile.

The first of which is the fact that the last 2 days Caroline has been quite quotable. This one knocked my socks off!

The scene: Wednesday, kneeling in front of her bed, saying bedtime prayers.

me: "Okay, repeat after me."
C: "No mama. YOU repeat after me."
me: "uh..okay..." (which I did, but for the story's sake, I'll leave it out.)
C: "Dear God...
...thank you for our food...
...and...and... I'm sorry for hitting Baby Kate...
Amen."

Yeah, made my heart smile. A LOT. Oh to have faith like a little child. Precious.

The other thing that has been making my heart smile is not near that touching, but oh so nice. I'm been scrapping. A LOT. 3 Layouts submitted to CK for their lake call. (Haven't heard anything, so I'm assuming they didn't pick me. But just in case, I'll hold off on posting the LOs a few more days.) Then I've created one so far with my gorgeous Color Me Daisy April kit. Think Lily Bee. And finally I finished up a LO for Urban Anthology's "Design Star" contest. You know me, anything that remotely sounds like it belongs on HGTV has my attention. LOL! So here are those LOs.

Woohoo! It's the Serendipity Reveal!!

Wow! It's been a while. Life has suddenly gotten really crazy. Not really sure why except that it's been raining for far too many days in a row, and I'm almost positive that my backyard will NEVER dry out! (Thanks red clay.)

Anyway, despite the maddness, I've actually been doing a lot of scrapping. I just have been able to share them with you for one reason or another. BUT today I get to share with you my projects from this month's Serendipity Scrapbooks kit! Woohoo!

I received the 'Just Enough Please' April kit, and let me tell ya, I couldn't get enough of it! It's packed FULL with Dream Street and My Mind's Eye papers, as well as whole packages of buttons, flowers, rub-ons, and thickers! Wowee! So I had a blast playing, and I can FINALLY share! :D *click on picture to enlarge*

Yes it's true. I will not be winning mother-of-the-year accolades because she DID eat a PB & J almost everyday for lunch last summer. (And yes, that's the same pj top as the Potty Training LO.)

Dancing with Cinderella


Completely inspired by the Steven Curtis Chapman song by the same name. I can't hear that song without tearing up if not full out crying. And it's so very much where we are right now in life--surrounded by all things Princess. The minute Josh walks in the door, she's begging him to dance with her. So I used the lyrics from the song as my journaling. I also used the blurred photos on purpose, because they're actually dancing. I wanted the blurred twirling motion, but also to remember this stage in our life.

a birthday card


This one's already been given out. My sweet grandmother (who lives on the farm) turned 80 last week. She doesn't look it at all! As a matter of fact, I was shocked when she told me that's what she'd be! She still "goes" like crazy all over the south, and really there's not sign of her stopping any time soon! ;)

So those are my projects. And now you see how wonderful the April "Just Enough" kit is too! It's really MORE than enough, as I still have some leftovers.
