Soooo excited!

I'm soo excited and I just can't hide it (anymore)!!! I got a call yesterday from Nikki of Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker who asked me to be a part of her design team! Wooohooooo! Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker is a new manufacturer that debuting at this summer's CHA in Orlando. So be on the look out for 6 brand spankin' new lines! I was also excited to see a handful of familiar friends on that list too!

"So where're we going today Mommy?"

Yes, that was the question I just got asked. A true testiment to all the activity that's been going on around here. I love summer, because there IS so much to do! We have a hard time staying home, and when we are home we're still playing hard outside. Kinda funny how she expects to go places every day now.

I'm pretty sure that last week at the lake (not our lake, but another) the girls both had their first canoe rides. Holly and Anna were so sweet to paddle my girls all over. I think their arms were sore afterwards.



Oh and SK's in swim wings AND a life jacket for a reason. I'm a safety girl, especially when it comes to water and the lake.

Unintentional all-nighter

Yep, I pulled an all-nighter. I didn't intend to, but it just kinda happened.

I got to scrap with some wonderful girls last night, and well, we just kept talking, and scrapping, and talking, and scrapping. The next thing we knew it was almost 1am before we left. THEN I was going to spend-the-night but G and I stayed up and talked s'more! (loved it G! ;) ) The next thing I knew, the VCR was blinking 4:30am CENTRAL time, and I'd intended to wake up at 6 to drive back to home. (Which by the way home is on EASTERN time.) Sooooo, instead of going to sleep for and hour or so, I just got back in the car. I know, I know, probably not the smartest decision, but I made it home so hey, it all worked out.

And how, you might ask, does someone stay awake while making the 3 hr. drive back home? Here's how. Witness this morning's Alabama sunrise.





Probably NOT a great decision to take pictures while driving (alone with no sleep), but there was a gorgeous sunrise (pictures don't do it justice) and my camera was sitting on the seat next to me. So hey, why not entertain myself with some pictures, ya know? But for the record I also headbanged to some ZZ Top (radio at 4am is sooo different!), watched the clouds through the sunroof, played "freeze out" by myself, prayed and did whatever I could to stay awake.

I walked in the door at 8am (EST), took an hour nap, then got ready and went to church with the fam as planned. All in all a successful trip! (One I won't repeat for a loooong long time, and I'm thankful it WAS successful.)

Now I'm going to go for another nap.

I just love this time of year, don't you? Summer has hit with a bang around here and we're ALL worn out. Monday it was the pool. Yesterday an all-day lake excursion and today a trip to the Children's Museum. Woo! We're tired, but lovin' it! I also love the first of the month because it means lots of layout reveals! It's like I've been saving up and the 1st means I can finally share my secret!

Today reveal is from Color Me Daisy! The June kit is a fun little kit, and I loved working with this color scheme. (Seems like I've been doing more and more with the dreaded yellow, and I really like it!) Here are a few LOs. I still have another and a card or 2 in the works. ;)

The Awkward Years

Yep, I went through them just like the rest of the world. And when we were at Grandmother's house for Memorial Day I found that she'd kept almost everyone of my school photos as proof. I quickly stole them, or rather I told her I wanted them, so they wouldn't resurface at some family reunion or come filing out of her wallet accordion style. Whatever the case, I got them from her to save myself some embarrassment. But then the scrapbooker in me kicked in. Ugh! Sometimes I hate it when that happens. My inner-scrapper kicked in though because it knew that if I didn't scrap those photos, I'd lose them. It's inevitable. I lose things daily. Last night it was the new book I bought. Yesterday at the pool it was SK's swimsuit (Good thing she still wears swim diapers!) But it just a fact of my life. I lose things, and I'd lose these photos too. So I scrapped them. Here I am in all my awkward glory. My school photos from 5th, 7th-10th grade. Looks like Grandmother already lost my 6th photo (sighing in relief)!! Guess it was too hideous to display! lol!


Braces in 7th grade, that I didn't get them off til the day of the Christmas Dance in 8th grade (and I spent the entire day/dance licking my smooth teeth). I was also a BIG TIME tom boy, not too much has changed. And check out that multi-stripe Polo with the white denium Guess shorts! Oh yeah baby! Gotta love it! I'm sure they were rolled up too! ;)

June FIRST?!?!

Can you BELIEVE that it's JUNE???? I know I can't! What in the world! I think the older I get the faster time flies. Why is that? You'd think I'd appreciate it more (which I do) and it'd slow some because I'm relishing it. But that's not the case. I'm just stunned that half the year is almost gone.

We had a really relaxing and fun weekend. Josh pulled out the kiddie pool, scrubbed it down, and filled it with water. And then he and I sat back and watched the girls slide, splash and play. I took the opportunity to play with my camera a little more. I was working with the shutter speed, a hard one to master for me because it all seems to be trial and error. So I was trying, and there was some error-ing. But here are a few of my favorite shots.





Needless to say, it was a fun, fun weekend.

June first also means it's Reveal Day at Serenedipity, and I had another month of FUN product to use! I had the "Just Enough Please" kit again, which this month was really neat to work with since I hadn't seen them yet!

A family shot of the 4 of us on my birthday. The girls were so transfixed with the cake that they didn't bother with looking at the camera. I had fun with those brads. I'm always stumped by brads, and not really sure what to go with them so I decided to play with these Sassafras brads.

Day of pretend and Our Prince

Today has really been a good day. The girls have done the best job playing together, and they come up with the greatest "stories" to pretend. Today they made a "pool" in the form of a ring of couch cushions, put on their swimsuits, and playing for almost 2 hours. They collected "monies" which were really Daddy's never-been-used poker chips, and they took their babies "swimming". It was all too too cute to listen to! They're both such a blessing and it brings me a LOT of joy to see/hear them playing togther. Oh, and they served me breakfast in bed. Check it out:



We also had a tea party after my b'fast in bed. ;)

I also want to share a little bit about "Our Prince". Inspiration for this LO came from a canvas that hangs in my nieces' bedroom. The cute little quote says, "My prince has already come, and his name is Daddy." I've loved that quote for years now, and I love the innuendo behind it. I want my girls falling head-over-heels in love with their Daddy (and no one else!!! hehehe!). There's such a special bond between daddies and daughters, and I want that for my crew too. And to do my best to capture the moments that ARE special between them. And what better way to foster those moments than to make a LO about one, right? (well, not really but I had to segway somehow.)

When I saw the frog prince on these Webster's pages I knew I wanted to do a LO about Josh and the girls, our princesses with their prince. I just happened to find this photo of them on Valentines Day each giving Josh a kiss on the cheek, and thought it was perfect.
