Good Friday musings...

Lately I've been singing a lot, or at least more than usual. Nothing big time. Just to myself as I cook dinner or clean. I find it takes the ugh out of anything tough that I don't like to do. I like to sing praise songs (or hum when I forget the words). Helps me remember that there's a lot more important things than just me. And on this Good Friday, I thought I'd share the song I've been singing/humming this week. Perfect for today.

"How Deep the Father's Love for Us"

How deep the Father's Love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One,
Bring many sons to glory

Behold the Man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection

Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom.

And because I can't choose just one, here are 2 YouTube videos of the song. The first is Sarah Sadler. I love her voice and how her video merely focuses on the words of the song and how true they are.

And the second, by Todd Warren, has put the song with cuts from the scenes of movies. To me it really brings to life (visually) exactly what the song is saying. As I watched it I could help but be brought to tears. Powerful stuff.

Happy Good Friday friends!

Amazing - I am always reminded that it is only our Father who has saved me by his grace alone. TFS!!!
